Frequently asked questions

Plain answers for parents and teachers about Abacus Striker, its games and the competition platform.

Accounts and safety

Why does a parent sign up, and not the child?

Only adults can sign up for Abacus Striker. Each child is a student profile inside the parent's account, with no login and no password.

How many children can I add?

You can add up to 5 student profiles to one account.

How many devices can we use?

An account can be signed in on up to 3 devices at once.

What do other children see?

Other children see only your child's display name, points and badges.

Why does the app ask for a date of birth or an address?

A date of birth is asked for only when your child first joins a multiplayer game or is registered for a competition, and a postal address only when something must be delivered. Both are stored encrypted and confirmed by a code sent to your mobile, and every access is logged.

Are there ad networks or chat?

The app has no advertising networks, data brokers, tracking pixels or analytics companies, and there is no chat between students.

How do I delete an account?

As the parent, open Delete Account in the app's account menu and choose a wait of 15, 30 or 60 days. You can cancel the deletion until the wait ends. You can also write to our Grievance Officer.

Practice and games

What can my child practise?

Flash-and-answer practice for Addition, Mixed (plus and minus), Multiplication and Division. You choose the number size (1 to 10 digits), how many numbers come in each round (2 to 100, or 5 to 100 for timed multiplication and division) and how many rounds to play (1 to 50). Flash speed, difficulty (easy, medium or hard) and hints are settings too.

Does practice work without internet?

Practice is recorded even without internet, and it syncs later.

How are scores kept fair?

Every answer that counts for points is checked on the server, never trusted from the device.

What is a 1v1 Race?

A live head-to-head race: both players get the same questions, and the winner earns rating points. Ratings start at 1200, never fall below 1000 and never reset, and an underdog who wins earns more. Players are matched against similar ratings on identical setups.

Competitions

How do registration and consent work?

Registration happens inside the Abacus Striker app. Consent is a code (OTP) sent to your mobile, not a tick box. If a teacher enters your child, the consent request still goes to your phone.

How do I check a result or verify a certificate?

Every certificate carries a QR code that anyone can check. You can also look up a result with the competition ID and your child's date of birth. You can do both on the verify page in the Abacus Striker app.

Do I need a smartphone?

No. Every document a parent receives can also be printed, so no family needs a smartphone to take part.
